The trick is very simple indeed. I use it as a warm up exercise and to calm down. For some people it is easier to do it from the position of Vertical Open than that of Horizontal. Fast Draw

This time I will demonstrate how to quickly activate your knife. This isn’t a trick but an exercise that may be helpful in many life situations. When coming across a tough guy in a dark side street gracious tricks and breathtaking flipping won’t save you. Yet if you grasp your butterfly knife quickly you can stab the cold steel right into your offender’s heart. Though balisong is not a best weapon to deal with this kind of situations it is nevertheless better than nothing. First of all, knife in general is a last resort weapon. It should not be used to ‘scare’ your opponent. If there is no chance of a peaceful resolution, just wait till the distance is suitably short and take out your butterfly.
