Basic Backhand Twirl
Basic Backhand Twirl is a trick popular in almost all performances for friends as well as for public at large. Often it is presented not as a separate exercise but as a part of a complex one. Nevertheless due to the intricacy of the butterfly’s rotation behind the hand this trick is classified as a medium level.
1. Suppose while doing an exercise you got a closed butterfly in your hand and lightly hold the safe handle of your almost falling knife with your forefinger and thumb:
2. With a sharp jerk, still holding it with the same fingers, flip the balisong against your forefinger:
3. It must look like this. Actually it is possible to hold the knife only with forefinger and middle finger:
4. Flip the blade and the bite handle against your middle finger and try to maintain hold of the butterfly with the other three fingers:
5. Now, having taken away the thumb and forefinger open the balisong by joining the two handles. A firm hold with the middle, fourth and small fingers is most essential here:
